Juan 15 — “Yo soy la vid verdadera”
Palabra clave de toda la charla: permanecer (abide / remain / stay). Aparece unas 10 veces en estos versículos. Esa repetición es el mensaje.
Juan 15:1–11 — RVR1960
1Yo soy la vid verdadera, y mi Padre es el labrador.
2Todo pámpano que en mí no lleva fruto, lo quitará; y todo aquel que lleva fruto, lo limpiará, para que lleve más fruto.
3Ya vosotros estáis limpios por la palabra que os he hablado.
4Permaneced en mí, y yo en vosotros. Como el pámpano no puede llevar fruto por sí mismo, si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco vosotros, si no permanecéis en mí.
5Yo soy la vid, vosotros los pámpanos; el que permanece en mí, y yo en él, éste lleva mucho fruto; porque separados de mí nada podéis hacer.
6El que en mí no permanece, será echado fuera como pámpano, y se secará; y los recogen, y los echan en el fuego, y arden.
7Si permanecéis en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en vosotros, pedid todo lo que queréis, y os será hecho.
8En esto es glorificado mi Padre, en que llevéis mucho fruto, y seáis así mis discípulos.
9Como el Padre me ha amado, así también yo os he amado; permaneced en mi amor.
10Si guardareis mis mandamientos, permaneceréis en mi amor.
11Estas cosas os he hablado, para que mi gozo esté en vosotros, y vuestro gozo sea cumplido.
1I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Si cortas una rama de la vid, no se ve muerta de inmediato. Por unos días las hojas siguen verdes. Todavía parece viva. Pero ya está acabada — solo que aún no lo sabe, porque ya nada fluye dentro de ella.
Jesús escoge exactamente esa imagen en Juan 15. No una máquina, no un contrato — una vid. Algo vivo, donde la vida de la rama nunca es suya propia.
Esta noche quiero detenerme en una sola palabra: permanecer. Significa quedarse, morar, hacer tu hogar en alguien. Y la pregunta incómoda que está debajo es esta: ¿estoy de verdad recibiendo vida de Jesús ahora mismo — o solamente todavía tengo hojas verdes?
If you cut a branch off a vine, it doesn't look dead right away. For a few days the leaves stay green. It still looks alive. But it's already finished — it just doesn't know it yet, because nothing is flowing into it anymore.
Jesus picks exactly that picture in John 15. Not a machine, not a contract — a vine. Something living, where the branch's life is never its own.
Tonight I want to stop on one word: abide. It means to stay, to dwell, to make your home in someone. And the uncomfortable question underneath it is this: am I really drawing life from Jesus right now — or do I just still have green leaves?
What does it look like in your life to abide in Jesus? Think about this past week: where did it actually show up? And where did you notice you were running on your own?
Verse 2 says the Father prunes the branches that DO bear fruit. Pruning hurts, and it happens to the healthy branches. Where might God be pruning you right now? How do you tell pruning apart from just hardship?
“Apart from me you can do nothing” (v.5). Be honest: what are you trying to do apart from Him right now? How does self-powered effort feel compared to abiding?
Abiding isn't passive: v.10 ties it to obedience, v.7 to His words remaining in you. What's one concrete practice that keeps you connected? What unplugs you?
The goal of all of it (v.11): “that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” Does abiding feel like joy to you, or like duty? What would have to change for it to feel like life rather than obligation?
